I was told by the narcissist that his ex was nuts. People around him said she was nuts.
It seemed plausible (and of course, I wanted to believe that!) However ... she WAS telling the truth, and he twisted it all around. She blamed me for what had happened to them, and I blamed her for the disruption when I started dating him, and it was HIM all along!!! How do narcissists do this?
It's called "triangulation". The triangulation process begins when the narcissist acts narcissistically toward someone. The abused person reacts and is then classified by the narcissist as 'the enemy'. And of course, when a narcissist devalues and discards someone, then, according to the narcissist, they need to be punished and down-graded for not being what the narcissist needs to feed their monstrous, never durably satisfied ego anymore.
