Zynga Sows Sweet Seeds

Since October 1st, more than 500,000 farmers have donated to help children and their families through the Sweet Seeds for Haiti effort!

That translates into more than $580,000 contributed to Haitian children and their families through two non-profits, fonkoze.org and fatem.org.

In addition to supporting the school meals program in Mirebalais, the contribution will also create a revolving loan fund that will allow thousands of women with children under the age of 15 to access loans that will help them to strengthen their businesses and thereby feed their children daily, ensure they are able to go to school and access the health care they so desperately need. As fast as one loan is repaid, it will be loaned out again to another woman. In Haiti, there is a proverb that says, “When it is the woman who is dividing the food, everyone will eat.” Women are the backbone of the Haitian economy and the doorway into the family unit. . . “
