Google, one of the most admired companies for its constant stream of innovation, is currently embroiled in a heated debate with the Chinese government. In fact, Google is threatening to shut down its search services in China, www.google.cn.
There are a couple of reasons attributed to the move. Google has traced cyber attacks to the growing economic region. But more so, Google does not seemingly want to deal with the censorship imposed by China’s regime. The Chinese government censors search results produced by Google, and Google does not agree with the ethical ramifications of the practice.
China, for its part, has argued vigorously against Google’s charges, with an unnamed official indicating that China is “uncompromisingly opposed to the politicization of commercial issues” and expressed both “discontent and indignation” for Google’s accusations. Instead, officials believe that companies operating in China ought to abide by the laws of the country.
